Onesimus (known as Armstrong) is a South African based Afro-R&B and gospel artists from Malawi.
He has impressed not only his generation but also the older masses and has the most Facebook page likes as Malawian artist (220,880 likes as of February 2019).
Onesimus was born on 29 April 1989 in Blantyre.
He changed his stage name from Armstrong to Onesimus which was named by Prophet Bushiri in 2013.
He started his career as a dancer with God Soldiers Dancing Group (GSoldiers).
In 2006 and 2008, he won the Sprite Dancing Competition under the name Armstrong.
When he was with GSoldiers in 2008, he discovered his rap talent and joined a gospel group called BBM Clique (Blessed Beyond Measure).
He switched from rap to singing and went solo in 2010.
He had performed at Malawi’s top music festivals including the Lake of Stars, Sand Music Festival, and the UMP Festival.
In 2014, he got two nominations in Malawi Music Awards for the Best Song and Most Popular Ringtone.
His song ‘Miracle Money’ released in 2015 broke the music download record in Malawi, which had been held by Gwamba.
‘Make Me Feel (Tchuku Tchuku)’ released in 2018 is also one of his masterpieces.
He got married to Lisa Mlanduli in September 2016.
